The requirements vary slightly from location to location, so check the job description to verify the requirements for your area. In general, the requirements to be a vehicle test driver are:
  • Must be at least 18 to 20 years old (depending on the job location)
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must have at least two years of driving experience in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass a written driving test, read maps and follow directions
  • Must have good English language written and verbal communication skills

Vehicle test drivers drive and evaluate new and pre-production vehicles from major auto manufacturers. Drivers operate in small groups on a predetermined route on public roads and provide feedback on vehicle performance, comfort, noise, durability and other factors. Shifts are generally eight hours of driving with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.

Yes! One of the major benefits of driving for Performance Driven Workforce is the ability to set your schedule. Our scheduling system matches driver availability with client needs weekly. Let us know when you are available to work, including any combination of day, night and weekend shifts, and we will schedule you when you are available.

The pay rate varies by location. Some locations offer an hourly bonus for night and weekend shifts. PDW also pays CDL drivers an hourly bonus when test driving vehicles that require a CDL license. Pay rates are listed on all of the job descriptions. Check job descriptions to see the pay rate for your area.

Yes! We also hire full-time and part-time CDL drivers, mechanics of all skill levels, fabricators, instrumentation techs, material control techs, vehicle porters, general laborers and more!
